From Tree to Charcoal, 2020
Carbonized Object

"From Tree to Charcoal" is a work in the "Before Collapse" series. Through material transformation, the series examines the questions about mortality, death, and rebirth, and explores how to live in every moment of our lives. The burnt materiality of the tree in this work poetically and theatrically presents a metaphysical correlation with how we experience time passing and cosmic cycle, both in the external observed physical world as well as in the inner subconscious mind.
Waterdrop, 2011
Stainless steel Sculpture
450(h) x 180 x 250mm

The artist through the work experiments on and explores the relationship between material, process, and form. Stainless steel changes its color and texture after welding. The high temperature produces a metallic surface in steel blue color and with wave-liked patterns, which match well with the water droplet form. This has been an experience full of uncertainties and conflicts in the production process and the material qualities.
